Nunavut Public Holidays

This page contains a calendar of all statutory and provincial holidays for Nunavut.

Following the passage of the 1982 plebiscite which divided the Northwest Territories, the Canadian parliament passed the Nunavut Act which established the territory. The act was signed on July 9 and this day has been designated a holiday in Nunavut known as Nunavut Day. In addition, the first Monday in August is celebrated as Civic Holiday designed to celebrate the heritage of the province.
